Windmills and Edam

Guided Tours takes you north of Amsterdam, to the edge of the river Zaan. Here we visit the windmill village 'de Zaanse Schans', with its characteristic green wooden houses. On the turn of the 18th century this district was an industrial area with 700 windmills in use. In this day and age there are only five left. We will pay a visit to a windmill (included) and a wooden shoe manufactory.

Before returning to Amsterdam, we take a stroll through the medieval town of Edam. Daily (except Fridays) at 9.30 AM – Duration ± 4 hrs (entrance to the windmill is included) Fridays (April 2rd - Sept. 3th ) Edam is replaced by Alkmaar. See ´Alkmaar Cheese Market´.
